Endeavor Consulting, 2006: Consultant - Microsoft, Rome Project, Software Test Lead - Bellevue, WA

·         Manage the test schedule and resources for a project split out between four different companies (Novatel, Moto, Toshiba, Microsoft) to ensure that all hardware, firmware and software works seamlessly with each other across the entire platform.

·         Run all Bug Triage meetings, Rome Test meetings and Vendor software discussion meetings.

·         Review all Specifications and DCRs.

·         Keep track of day-to-day action items and issues as they come up from Dev, Test and PM.

·         Manage three CSGs, their schedules and tasks as well as make sure all obstacles to their testing are removed.

·         Assist in testing in a manual and automated fashion.

 

Electronic Evidence Discovery Inc, 2005 - 2006: Software Test Engineer III (Lead) - Kirkland, WA

·         As one of two test leads, provide mentorship to the less experienced but growing test team in regards to test plan writing, test case writing, bug writing, bug investigation, specification review, candidate interviewing for all departments and the over all QA process.

·         Lead the effort to create Testing Standards and Best Practices to be used across the Test organization.

·         Researched defect tracking and test case management systems within a budget, then provided my recommendation for appropriate tools for the entire test team that upper management then approved.

·         Assisted in the creation of a development-test-program manager feature specification review process in order to facilitate full group understanding of new functionality and to prevent bugs that are introduced in the design phase.

·         Assisted in the interviewing process that resulted in the hiring of Program Managers, Software Test Engineers and Developer Engineers.

 

Microsoft, 2003 - 2005: Software Design Engineer and Tester (STE) - Redmond, WA

·         Continued work on the PlaceWare Webconferencing product now known as Office Live Meeting. Responsible for the transfer of expert knowledge of the product to the new test teams including known trouble areas, legacy issues and feature functionality.

·         Owned Live Meeting 2005 feature areas. Developed test specifications, test plans, test suites and test cases. Reviewed Program Management specifications of new functionality for testability and product interoperability.

·         Developed automation for Live Meeting 2005 feature areas using an internally developed automation harness. Automated 100% of BVT test cases and 80% of priority one cases.

·         Globalization Test Lead. Led the Live Meeting test team, defining the process for Globalization and Localizability test efforts. Represented the entire test organization in collaboration with the Globalization program managers, developers, localization engineers and testers worldwide. Provided all informational documentation, lead informational brown bags, provided and analyzed bug statistics on a weekly basis and lead the entire Live Meeting organization in cross functional bug bashes.

 

PlaceWare, 1999 - 2003: Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (SQE) - Mountain View, CA.

·         Designed and created all test plans, test specifications and test cases for the QA department with emphasis on eCommerce within the Company's web-based meeting software, designed to support large scale international events.  

·         Performed reviews of development documentation and test procedures.  Created process improvements by developing document templates and implementing a formal documentation strategy.

·         Created a training fast track that allowed new hires to become productive in 5 working days.

·         Performed all black box, compatibility, configuration and functional testing of the various web based products in test: Conference Center 2.4, Conference Center 3.0, Conference Center 3.1, Conference Center 2000 and Conference Center 2000v2.

·         Provided analysis, reports and status of all products in test, bug trends, postponed bugs and milestone progress.

 

Silicon Spice, 1998 - 1999: Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (SQE) - Mountain View, CA.

·         Designed and created a series of tests for a revolutionary communications processor high density VOIP chip with attention to the integration of software to hardware. This included Application, API, DLL and UI testing.

·         Creation and review of test designs, procedures and product code.

·         Performed the automated execution of test suites in a custom built system test harness.

·         Provided a weekly status update of progress with upper management. Administered ClearCase and ClearQuest and was the ISO9000 Process Administrator for the QA Department.

 

Sungard Treasury Systems, 1998: Software Quality Assurance Manager - San Bruno, CA.

·         Designed and created the entire Quality Assurance strategy from the ground up including test plans, test cases and best practices for a Treasury and money management software product. Including review of development specifications.

·         Creation and review of test designs and procedures. Execution of test procedures using the software product on the backend databases: Oracle, Interbase, Informix, Sybase, SQL.

·         Interfacing with Management, Support, Development and Sales. Provided a weekly status of QA's progress to the company.

 

Sequent Associates, 1997 - 1998: SQA Engineer Contractor - Mountain View, CA.

Software Quality Assurance Engineer contracted to perform high level, black box, server and applications testing. Also created, designed and reviewed test plans and procedures. Contracts included:

Seiko Epson, 1997 - 1998: Software Quality Assurance Manager

·         Responsible for managing the Software Quality Assurance Department, including analysis of software requirements, review of development documentation, creation and review of test designs and procedures, and process improvements within the department.

·         Creation, review and execution of test cases using digital cameras, scanners and printers.

Ventritex, 1997: SQA Engineer

·         Responsible for performing quality assurance on medical device software (implantable defibrillators), including analysis of requirements, design and code reviews, system and software hazard analyses, review of development documentation, creation and review of test designs and procedures, and process improvements within the department.

·         Creation, review and execution of test procedure using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes and function generators.

 

The 3DO Company, 1994 - 1997: Quality Assurance Engineer, Team Lead - Redwood City, CA.

3DO, Internet Product/Server QA Engineer, 1996 - 1997

·         Tested Meridian 59, the Internet's first 3D Graphical MUD.

·         Managed a team of 3-9 people.

·         Designed and setup the Customer Service Internet department to technically support and manage 25,000 Beta Testers. (Now the basis for the production line.)  Performed Customer Service "Guardian" functions on the servers to technically assist the users.

·         Designed and performed Server Load Tests.

·         Designed and performed QA tests on all upgrades to Meridian 59.

3DO, Compatibility QA Engineer, 1994 - 1996

·         Products tested include: Creative Labs, 3DO plug in for the IBM; 3DO Opera systems for Panasonic, Sanyo, Goldstar and Toshiba (FZ-1, FZ-10) for the USA, Japanese, Korean and European markets and the Digital Video Module.

·         Tested hardware console products for compatibility and reliability. Wrote Test plans for the three different types of testing performed: Quicklook, Functional and Comprehensive. Managed a team of 3-18 people. Coordinated QA resources with 3rd Party Developers for on-going products to meet all milestones and productions deadlines.

 

SEGA of America: Titles Tester - Redwood City, CA. 1993 - 1994

·         Lead Tester on several products, managed 2-10 people and coordinating their work schedules on a weekly basis. Tested products against functional design specifications and drove adherence to logical and graphical standards.  Key in providing feedback to developers and management for title improvements based on playability and usability. Advised Title Producers on product aspects including game playability and adherence to rating standards.

·         Titles tested for the SEGA Genesis and SEGA CD include: Aladdin, Asterisk and Obelisk, Dark Wizard, Ecco the Dolphin, Eternal Champions, ShadowRun and Street Fighter 2.
