The One Who Got Away
Strong, young and handsome.
Wanted, with his arrogant way.
Loving to hate, hating to love,
The one who got away.

Green eyes, movie star looks.
A hard price to pay.
Wanting to feel, feeling to want.
The one who got away.

Playing the heart on a fragile string,
Begging him ever to stay,
He grew bored of me.
The one who got away.

Chasing him was all I knew
Broken, as he left that day.
Heart of stone, Stone of heart.
The one who got away.

Slowly, perspective came to me.
Remembering all that he'd say
Words of Love, Love of Words.
The one who got away.

It was only images of my desire,
He had always kept me at bay.
I did not want to really see,
The one who got away.

Mind and soul returned to me.
No more the broken woman, nay.
Truth of Reality, Reality of Truth.
I was the one who got away.

No more will I pine for,
The one who got away.

Words

All we have is words.
Words blur my eyes like tears.
The mind reaches for them:
Caresses them.
Obeys them.
Needs them.
Holds them close to my heart.

The careless word can break the soul.
You have never been careless.
Your words reaching to me:
Guiding me.
Commanding me.
Loving me.
Holding me close to your heart.

All we have is words.
Words that bind two souls together.
For now -
It is enough.

Lions & Tigers
The Lion and the Tiger
Coexist in their seperate worlds.

What comparison would you have me make?
And to what purpose?

Surely, you and I, both see two cats
Running fast, stalking fierce, living free.

Is this merely a skin deep difference?

Or a deception hidden
In similar appearance?

Yes, I must...
Insist on.
Persist on.
Until I have your answer.

Behold:

The True Believer, with his ready reply
(A gift too easily given)

His cousin, the Doubter, with his changing stripes
(A tale too awkwardly grasped)

Do you mean to tell me-
The Untested Believer

(Runs faster)
(Stalks fiercer)
(Lives freer)
Than the Persevering Doubter?

Or

Can you see behind my stripes
To the Lion's heart
That beats
Within

Still waiting for
Your answer.

The Forest Within the Trees
Armed with as much good sense
As one finds in little green apples

I steel myself against you
Long enough to insist
You could not possibly
Know me
Well enough
To answer
My questions before I finish asking them.

Imagine my surprise
When I...

(Caught a glimpse)
(Out of the corner)
(Of my eye)
(Of your hand)
(Reaching for mine)
Suddenly heard
(and)
What it was you were saying
(When you pointed out)
(The Forest that was hiding)
(Here)
(In the middle of all these trees.)

Well!

My apologies,
My dear,

(and)
My thanks

For straightening out
The tangled
I made of
Myself
(and)
For the warm glow
You have put
In its place.

Rendezvous

Meet me
by the water cooler

Where I will
slip
you a note
and

Where you will
ask
me about my day
and

Where we will
smile
knowingly to ourselves
at the others who will
stop
by the cooler to chat
and

Where they will
drink
merely water

Where you and I
drink
the bliss of our affection.

Just Jenn
"Will there be any single women there?" He said
"Well, just Jenn." The other replied
"Oh, I already know her."

~

Just Jenn
The comfortable girl, always
there
when needed.
Much like your stuffed teddy bear.

~

You know your favorite fabric friend.
He is always
there
when needed.

~

He listens and understands as you
squeeze
him tightly.
Knowing all that you feel.

~

Then, in better times
he is always tossed to the
corner
until needed.

~

In the darkness, you never see his tears.
Nor do you notice, that your favorite fabric
friend
is dying.
Neglected, alone and forgotten.

~

His seam is coming unraveled.
'I will have to fix that one
day.'

You think.
And then forget as you walk away.

~

His button eye has come
loose.
Is lost.
Among the remnants of your life.

~

The day may come that you turn
to your favorite fabric friend
and find that
he
is gone.
Lost to the uncaring winds of time.

~

On that day, maybe you will wonder
what happened to your
friend
that girl
you once knew that was always
there
for you.

~

She
was
just Jenn.

Roleplay?
Pretty words fall like golden coins
Excite the senses, stir the loins
We play the ageless courtship dance,
Bat the eye, take the chance.

Secret words, hidden meanings
Valuable information gleanings
Circles within circles and games within games
Find the answers, know the names.

Poetic words reveal the plot
Tangled webs, don't get caught.
Capture the prey that we've sought.
Play the strings as they ought.

But still, as we each play our role
Do we touch more, within the soul?
Flirting gesture, meaningful touch
Moving closer, feeling much

When you flirt and how you tease,
I need to know, tell me please.
Pretend attraction, that is your part.
But is it your character speaking, or your heart?

Night Storms

In those sordid, luscious moments,
We were worshiped by the wind and rain.
Together, we slept beneath the whispering storm.

Languid shadows of a dream sang for the winter's symphony.
Light from the black void shone like music,
Through a thousand bright diamonds of eternity.

A gift of Time.

Sweet as honey and peaches as the
Blood moon Goddess watches you and I lie
In the misty rose garden of our delicate love.

Dancing Assassin
(Kabuki)

Dance for me, my love.
Show me the way.
Dance for me again,
Turning night into day.

Swirling silk like a cloudy plume.
Bright eyes shining with a dangerous glare
Curling your body languidly about the room.
The wind blowing moonlight through your hair.

I see the curves of your beguiling hips.
I see your glistening skin against the ebon sky.
I see the moisture of your blood red lips.
I see the Goddess calling me to die.

Dance for me, my love.
Show me the way.
Dance for me again,
Turning night into day.

Swirling silk of the dancing doom.
Moonlight bright, a fragile soul to snare.
Curling my body across your loom.
The wind blows on, without a care.

I see the gleaming sickle in your hand.
I see the moisture of my red tears in the night.
I see the shadow of my life falling to the sand.
I see your smile as I am drawn into the light.

Dance for me, my love.
Show me the way.
Dance for me again,
As I slowly fade away.
