Here is a page that will have a series of my personal opinions on things like religion, politics, comics, movies, etc. This is not to piss people off. It's simply to express my opinion. Gotta love freedom of speech! SPIRITUALITY: To me, spirituality and religion is a personal thing. I view God/The Light/Goodness as a beautiful, faceted gem. Each facet is a religion. If you look through only one facet at the other facets, they look distorted and wrong. But, if you step back, lift your eye from your one facet and embrace the gem as a whole, you can see just how beautiful the gem is. Each facet is interconnected with another - build upon another. 95% of the religions in the world are in celebration and homage to God/The Light/Goodness in general. It's sad to see one fighting another. When one facet is damaged, the gem as a whole, is damaged. (And I can bet Mom is going to respond to me on this as soon as she reads it. Love you, Mom! =)) PARENTS: Speaking of which - you ever notice how much smarter they get the older you get? Amazing, huh? My parents are cool. They certainly weren't cool when I was growing up. But now, I understand a lot more. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Oh yeah, watching parents become Grandparents is a hoot. They are all mush and smiles and funny noises. And my niece is not going to believe me when I tell her that these are not the people I grew up with!! LOVE: Love is one of the greatest gifts that you can give another. You feel happy, smiling all the time. Love is something you give without expectation of something in return. It is simply is there. Not necessarily explosive but more like a favorite blanket that covers you at night. Comforting and warm. Whether you knew it or not when it was there, you will always know when it is gone. Cherish those you love and who love you. POLITICS: Oy. What a topic. Personally, I hate politics with a passion and think that anyone who *wants* to be in politics should not be allowed to be. In general, I think the US Government system needs a serious overhaul but, unfortunately, I have no idea on what would be good to replace it or how to fix it. I simply watch from the sidelines and vote the best way I know how. SEX: Ooooh. Hot bed of innuendo and gossip. Sex will always be a topic of discussion among friends. I know people sleep around. It's not for me. I've slept with people who love me. I've done the one-night stand. Never again. Sex is much, much better with one who loves you. Also, sex is something that one should wait on until you are ready. I mean -really- ready. I have heard so many horror stories about people's first times. More than once, I've heard "If I could do it over again, I would wait until I was ready." Children should not be having babies. I think it's flat out wrong. Not to mention, dangerous with all the diseases out there. I lost my virginity when I was 20. Yes, 20. Gosh, by today's standard, I was a spinster or a prude. In reality, I was neither. I simply waited until I knew I was ready (bursting, actually), and then lost my virginity to a man, who was also a virgin, that I thought I would marry. He and I are not married but still very good friends. I will never regret it. So, please, before you leap into bed with anyone, remember that it will affect you for the rest of your life. MONEY: I hate to say it, but money does make the world go round. It will not fill your soul but it will make your life easier. Your best bet to making a lot of (legit) money is to stay into school, go to college, get a degree in a growing field. Then get a job, pay your dues and then get to a point where you are comfortable. Or, be the business maker and create your own company. (And remember: Computer programmers, Doctors, Teachers, and even Lawyers, have a longer life expectancy than a smuggler or a drug pusher does. It would suck to make a lot of illegal money and not be able to really enjoy it cause you're in jail or dead.) MILITARY: I'm a military brat, so I'm bias. (All of these are just my opinion, so, of course, I bias.) I like the military. I think there is a real need for it in this country. It has given a job, a home, a place to belong for a lot of people who may not have had it otherwise. I grew up on military bases. They were not the ritz but they were home. Also, military bases provided a source of money to the surrounding towns. Yes, I know they are closing a lot of military bases now. They are doing what needs to be done for the economy but I think everyone should stop and consider what the military has done for us all.
