Cassandra was born at 1:01am on January 1st, 1901 to Donna and Jonathan Delanie. An auspicious date and time to her superstitious mother. She was also born with a caw, another clear sign that this child would have psychic abilities. Cassie's well-to-do parents could afford Donna's eccentric hobbies Cassie grew up knowing that she was a 'special child' who was destined for great things. She was an intelligent and beautiful. Precocious in her ability to read and write. Quickly, she learned to love the rhyming word, making up poetry on the spot to impress her father's business partners. Cassandra grew to a lovely young woman whom her father showed off with grew pride. All the while, she grew more and more distant from the mother who first delighted in her most 'special child.' As Cassie grew older, her father would bring her to business dinners and parties for her get a feel for the people her father was working with and to see if she could glean any interesting information from them. Her father and his business partners were all very rich and intelligent enough to avoid going to war in 1911. Late, in 1916, just before she turned sixteen, Cassandra's mother took ill and died of a wasting disease. Sad at the loss of her mother, Cassie could not help but thank the stars above that it was her mother who died, and not her father. She used the death of her mother to avoid the boys her own age, telling all would-be suitors that she had to take care of her poor bereft father. By the time she was twenty-three, her father began to worry for his daughter. He loved her very much but it was high time that she find a husband to care for instead of tending to him. He was discouraged by her refusal of all he brought to her, saying, "Oh Daddy, you know I could never leave you." This was when Ian Sinclair entered the picture. He was a well known philanthropist and patron of the arts, especially of those arts that dealt with painting or his Scottish heritage. It was said that he owned several castles in Scotland and could trace his lineage to the Templar Knights of old. And indeed, Ian Sinclair seemed to find the lovely young Cassandra Delanie a charming beauty. He would listen to her poetry for hours, seeming to get lost in it, only to gently urge her to recite more when she would finish. He was the proper gentleman at all times. It was months before he asked to court Cassandra and, even then, he, as a proper gentleman would, asked permission of Jonathan first. By August 1st, 1925, Cassandra asked to move in with Ian, so that she could take better care of him. It was at this time that Ian did reveal to her, his dark secret and opened her eyes to world of the vampyre. Much startled at first, Cassandra still loved Ian very much. It explained the feelings her talent had given her and confirmed the death of her father was not from a gunshot wound. She eargerly became Ian's ghoul as he started teaching her more about his secret world. On her 25th birthday, January 1st, 1926, Ian offered Cassandra the Kiss. She accepted immediately. Ian was her world and wanted to stay with him always. Upon her embrace, he christened her Cassandra Lynn Delphi, his Child. No longer was Ian just her lover. He was also now her Father. Quote: "He comes for me on wings of light... beauty hiding evil, the heart of night." |
